Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2026  ·  ThoughtFold v1.0.4

The short version

ThoughtFold does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data. Ever. Everything you save — tabs, notes, intents — lives exclusively on your own machine. We have no servers, no database, and no way to see what you've stored.

Data collection

ThoughtFold collects no personal data. We do not collect your name, email address, browsing history, or any information about the tabs you save. There are no analytics scripts, no session tracking, and no telemetry of any kind embedded in the extension.

Data storage

All tabs, notes, intents, and settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome's native chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your machine. ThoughtFold does not own or operate any servers, and no cloud syncing occurs at any point.

If you uninstall ThoughtFold, Chrome will delete all associated local storage data.

Permissions

ThoughtFold requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for the stated purpose:

  • storage — To save your tabs, notes, and intents locally on your device.
  • tabs — To read the currently active tab's URL, title, and favicon when you choose to hibernate it.
  • sidePanel — To display the ThoughtFold Vault in Chrome's native side panel.
  • alarms — To check for stale tabs in the background and display the nudge badge.
  • scripting — To read page metadata (meta descriptions, headings) to build context snippets when you hibernate a tab.

No permission is used for tracking, advertising, or any purpose beyond the feature it enables.

Third-party services

ThoughtFold does not share any data with third parties. The extension has no dependency on external APIs during normal use.

The optional Supporter Tier uses Whop to process one-time license key payments. If you choose to purchase a license key, that transaction is handled entirely by Whop and is subject to Whop's privacy policy. ThoughtFold only receives a license key string you enter manually to verify locally.

License key validation

When you enter a Supporter license key, ThoughtFold sends a verification request to a privacy-preserving proxy to confirm the key is valid. This request includes only the license key itself — no personal information, no browsing data, and no device identifiers are transmitted.

Children's privacy

ThoughtFold is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective date above and, where applicable, note the change in the Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of ThoughtFold after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
